Strawberry breeding – knowledge transfer partnerships and Edward Vinson.

Working with Edward Vinson (EV) to introduce and embed technologies for molecular breeding in octoploid strawberry.

Dates: April 2022 – January 2025

Funding: £200k

This project take advantage of populations developed by EV that will be genotyped using a commercial SNP array and phenotyped over three seasons in the field in Kent. 

Expected results:

Tools and knowledge to embark on a molecular breeding programme to accelerate time to market for new and improved cultivars with an initial focus on yield and quality.
